Identity verification (KYC), step by step

What identity verification unlocks, what you need before you start, and exactly what each screen asks for.

Identity verification is the one gate in Fuzopay. You can sign in and deposit without it. You cannot move money out until it is approved.

It takes about five minutes, and you only do it once.

What it unlocks

The verification screen lists three things:

  • Withdraw your balance — send funds to your verified destination.
  • Virtual USD account — receive payments using personal account details.
  • Fiat money features — convert and cash out through supported rails.

Everything else — signing in, generating a deposit address, receiving crypto, watching your balance — works without it.

Note. Deposits genuinely do not require verification. The deposit screen says so: "No identity verification is required to deposit." Verify when you are ready to withdraw, not before.

Before you begin

  • A government-issued ID. Passport, national ID card, or driver's licence. It must be valid, not expired.
  • A phone or webcam for the selfie step.
  • Good light and a plain surface. Most failed checks are photo quality, not identity.
  • About five minutes in one sitting. Your progress is saved if you have to stop.

Start verification

You can reach it from several places:

The entry screen is headed Unlock withdrawals and fiat features on desktop and Verify once. Unlock more. on mobile. Select Begin verification.

Tip. If you started before and stopped, this screen sends you straight back to where you left off rather than restarting you.

Headed Terms & consent.

Our verification partner has its own terms covering the verification process. These are separate from the Fuzopay Terms of Use you accepted at sign-up.

  1. Select Review terms.
  2. The terms open inside Fuzopay — you are not sent to another site.
  3. Read them and accept.
  4. The screen waits and confirms on its own: After you accept, this continues on its own.
  5. When acceptance is confirmed you see Terms accepted and Return confirmed.
  6. Select Continue verification.

If you close the page partway through, your account shows Finish accepting the terms and returning to /verify picks up here.

Step 2 — Identity check

Headed Identity verification. This runs securely inside Fuzopay and normally involves:

  1. Confirming your details — name, date of birth, and address.
  2. Photographing your ID — front and back for a card, the photo page for a passport.
  3. A selfie — a short liveness check that matches your face to the document.

The screen notes that your progress is saved automatically, so a dropped connection does not mean starting over.

Getting the photos right first time

  • Lay the document flat on a plain, dark, non-reflective surface.
  • Fill the frame. All four corners must be visible.
  • Avoid glare — turn away from a direct light or window rather than adding more light.
  • Do not crop, rotate, filter, or edit anything.
  • Remove hats, sunglasses, and masks for the selfie. Ordinary glasses are usually fine.
  • Use the original document. Photocopies, scans, and photographs of a screen are rejected.

Step 3 — Review

Headed Verification status, showing Verification in progress.

We're reviewing your information. This status is pending and does not mean final approval.

Typical review time: most reviews finish within 1–2 business days. Some take longer.

There is nothing to do while you wait. Select Go to dashboard and carry on using your account — deposits keep working. You can leave and return at any time; your progress is saved, and the status updates on its own when the decision arrives.

The outcome

Approved

You see an approval screen and Fuzopay returns you to whatever you were doing when verification interrupted you:

  • If you came from setting up a virtual USD account, it offers Continue account setup.
  • If you came from a withdrawal, it offers Continue withdrawal — check the amount and destination before confirming.

Your Settings → KYC status row now reads Verified.

More information needed

Sometimes an extra question or document is needed before a final decision. Your status becomes More information needed or Verified — more information requested, and a short form appears. See Responding to a request for information.

Could not be completed

The screen reads We couldn't verify your identity, and withdrawals and fiat features stay unavailable.

Contact support to review the issue and, if eligible, start a new corrected application.

Your balance and crypto deposits remain available. Select Contact support to email support@fuzopay.com.

How to avoid delays

  1. Use your legal name exactly as it appears on the document — no nicknames, no shortened forms, no missing middle names.
  2. Use a document that has not expired.
  3. Enter your address as it appears on your official records, not a shortened version.
  4. Complete it in one sitting where you can. Stopping and resuming is supported, but each restart adds handling.
  5. Do not start a second attempt while one is under review. It does not speed anything up.

Privacy

The entry screen states the principle plainly:

Verification is handled securely and only requested when you access regulated money features. Your documents are never shown publicly.

Identity verification is a legal requirement for regulated money movement, not an optional data-collection exercise. What we collect and how long it is kept is set out in the Privacy Policy.
